The simplest and most effective method:

Dishwasher tablets and hot water: Place a dishwasher tablet in the removable detergent drawer, put the drawer in a small bucket or sink, and pour hot water over it.

Let the tablet soak for 15–20 minutes. The powerful grease removers and descalers in the tablet will dissolve dried-on detergent and fabric softener residue without scrubbing.

More helpful tips:

Vinegar and baking soda soak: If dishwasher tablets aren’t available, a mixture of baking soda and vinegar in warm water is also excellent for removing mold and deposits.

Don’t forget the dispenser drawer: Briefly clean the dispenser drawer in the machine with an old toothbrush and a vinegar-based cleaner before replacing the cleaned drawer.
