In Czech households, puff pastry is popular precisely for its versatility. This recipe is proof that even ordinary ingredients can be used to create something extraordinary.

Ingredients
For the dough and filling
600 g puff pastry
300 g minced beef
1 whole egg + 1 yolk
2 onions (½ for the meat, the rest for the mixture)
150 g fresh mushrooms, finely chopped
60 g hard cheese (50 g for sprinkling + 10 g for the sauce)
100 g sour cream
1 bunch of fresh dill
6 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon mustard
20 ml soy sauce

1 teaspoon ground paprika
salt and ground pepper to taste
a little vegetable oil
Step-by-step procedure
1️⃣ Preparing the base
Roll out the puff pastry on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. You can shape it into a circle or a wreath – leave the center free for an effective serving.

2️⃣ Meat filling
In a bowl, mix the ground beef, egg yolk, ground paprika, salt, pepper and finely chopped half of the onion. Mix the mixture well.

3️⃣ Pre-baking
Spread the meat mixture evenly over the dough. Brush the edges with egg yolk so that they are beautifully golden after baking.

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for approximately 20 minutes.

4️⃣ Mushroom layer
Heat a little oil in a pan. Fry the onion until golden, add the chopped mushrooms, salt and pepper. Fry until the excess liquid has evaporated. Finally, add 3 cloves of garlic and mix briefly.

5️⃣ Second baking
Sprinkle 50 g of grated cheese on the pre-baked base, then add the mushroom mixture.

Return to the oven for another 10 minutes at 180 °C.

6️⃣ Creamy herb sauce
In a bowl, mix:

sour cream
mustard
soy sauce
remaining garlic
chopped dill
10 g grated cheese
Season with salt and pepper.

7️⃣ Finishing
After removing from the oven, spread or lightly pour the prepared sauce over the baked pie. Serve warm.
