With a simple, natural “protective water” you can effectively repel pests and protect your plants at the same time. This homemade remedy is safe, cheap and surprisingly effective.

Why does this natural remedy work?

Certain natural ingredients act as a powerful repellent against pests. They disrupt their breathing, destroy their protective layer or repel them with their scent – without harming the plant.

Ingredients:

1 liter of water (preferably lukewarm)

3–4 cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of mild liquid soap (no harsh chemicals)

Optional: 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil

Preparation:

Prepare the garlic
Crush or finely chop the garlic. It contains natural sulfur compounds that repel pests.

Mix with water
Add the garlic to the water and let the mixture steep for at least 2–3 hours, ideally overnight.
Add soap
Add the liquid soap and mix well. The soap helps to penetrate the protective layer of the pests.
Optionally, add oil
A few drops of oil enhances the effect and helps to suffocate the pests.
Strain and pour into a spray bottle
Remove the solids and pour the liquid into a spray bottle.

Application:
Spray the leaves thoroughly, especially the underside.
Use the product 1-2 times a week.
It is best to apply in the morning or evening, out of direct sunlight.
