🌍 Sweet Christmas Treasures of the World
🇮🇹 Italy: Panettone and Pandoro
Italy offers two main sweet rivals:

Panettone (Milan): It is a tall, dome-shaped, fluffy yeast bread filled with candied fruit (citrus) and raisins. Baking Panettone is a laborious, long process that guarantees its specific texture and durability. It is often served with sweet wine or mascarpone cream.
Pandoro (Verona): Literally means “golden bread”. It is shaped like an octagonal star and is a rich, buttery cake. It does not contain fruit, but is extremely light and airy. After cooling, it is generously sprinkled with powdered sugar (symbolizing snow).
🇩🇪 Germany: Christstollen (Stole)

Characteristics: A dense, heavy fruit bread with a history dating back to the $15$. century.
Ingredients: Full of dried fruit, nuts and often marzipan inside. Immediately after baking, it is brushed with melted butter and heavily coated in sugar or sprinkled with powdered sugar.
Symbolism: Its shape is supposed to symbolize Christ wrapped in swaddling clothes.
🇦🇹 Austria: Kletzenbrot
Characteristics: A traditional, dark fruit bread (cross-stitch bread) that is very heavy in weight.
Ingredients: The base is a large amount of dried fruit – kletzen (dried apples and pears, called Kletzen), figs, dates, raisins and nuts, bound with a spiced dark dough.
🇬🇷 Greece: Christopsomo

Characteristics: Literally “Christ’s bread”. It is a rustic, round, sweet leavened bread baked on Christmas Eve.
Ingredients: It is rich in raisins, nuts, honey, cardamom and orange peel.
Decoration: The top of the bread is often decorated with a cross made of dough and is symbolically intended for Jesus.

🇫🇷 France: Bûche de Noël
Characteristics: Although it is not a traditional bread, it is the main Christmas dessert, which has a symbolic meaning associated with the burning of the Yule log in the fireplace.
