This is a fantastic, fun idea! Whimsical Christmas Tree Cake Pops (in the form of Cake Pops) are guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face and will be the highlight of the holiday table.
The easiest, most whimsical solution uses the Cake Pop base, but we shape it into a cone instead of a ball.
🎄 Whimsical Christmas Tree Cake Pops (No-Bake)
📝 Ingredients
Quantity Ingredient Note
250 g Cake Base E.g. leftover cocoa sponge cake, muffin, or ground gingerbread/biscuits.
50-80 g Binder Nutella, cream cheese, buttercream or jam.
300 g Green Candy Melts/Chocolate Melts or white chocolate with green food coloring.
Decoration Small colored sprinkles
Decoration Gold colored sugar pearls or stars For the top of the tree.
Decoration Small pretzel pieces For the tree trunk effect (optional).
🔪 Preparation
- 🌲 The Dough Base (The “Paste”)
Crush the base cake/biscuit into very fine crumbs.
Add the binding agent (e.g. Nutella or cream cheese). Knead until you get a homogeneous, well-shaped, but not sticky mass.
Shaping: Form the mass into smaller, conical Christmas tree shapes (thick at the bottom, pointed at the top).
Cooling: Place the little cones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer for 15-20 minutes, or in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. This will prevent them from falling apart while dipping. - 💚 Frosting and Decorating
Melt Frosting: Melt the green frosting or green-tinted white chocolate over a pan of boiling water or over low heat.
Dip: Hold a frozen cone cookie by the tip and carefully dip it into the melted green frosting. Let the excess drip off.
Trunk (Optional): If you want, immediately, while the frosting is still wet, press a small pretzel piece into the bottom for a tree trunk.
Decorating (The Whimsical Part):
Place back on the baking sheet and immediately sprinkle with colored sugar beads or tiny sprinkles (these will be the decorations).
Place a gold or silver sugar star on top of the tree until the frosting sets.
Let the frosting set completely and you’re ready to serve your whimsical treats! What a great idea!
