Donuts with chestnut puree, whipped cream and cherries stored in summer
This dessert is not only delicious, but also a true celebration of the seasonal cycle, as the wintery, indulgent flavors (donut, chestnut puree, whipped cream) meet the sunny memory of summer (cherries)! It is truly an excellent, rich delicacy that can be enjoyed all year round.
This dessert, although it includes donuts, is very similar to the classic Hungarian Chestnut Puree, which is made truly unforgettable by the whipped cream and rum cherries.
🍒 Donuts with Chestnut Puree, Whipped Cream and Cherries
📝 Ingredients (for 4 servings)
Ingredients Quantity Notes
Donuts 4-8 pcs Mini American donuts (doughnuts) or homemade ribbon donuts.
Chestnut puree 250 g Frozen or tube, flavored.
Whipped cream 2-3 dl Chilled whipped cream (30-35%).
Sugar To taste For the whipped cream.
Cherries 100-150 g Preserved in summer (canned, rum-soaked sour cherries or canned cherries).
Rum 1-2 tbsp Optional (for the cherries/chestnuts).
🔪 Preparation (Assembly)
Preparing the Donuts: If using fresh donuts, let them cool slightly. If using store-bought mini donuts, warm them slightly (this step is optional, but it enhances the experience).
The Cherries: If using canned, drain. For an even stronger flavor, mix the cherries with 1-2 tablespoons of rum in a small bowl and let stand for 5 minutes.
The Whipped Cream: Beat the cold cream with the sugar (and possibly vanilla) until stiff.
The Chestnut Puree: If using frozen puree, let it thaw at room temperature. Grate directly over the plates with a hand grater or press through a chestnut press onto serving plates.
Serving (Layering):
Place 1-2 donuts on the plate.
Surround the donut or pile the grated, soft chestnut puree on top.
Add a generous amount of whipped cream to the puree (it looks even better with a piping bag).
Finally, decorate the dessert with the rum cherries and syrup juice.
This dessert offers the perfect balance of creamy, soft, sweet and sour flavors in every bite!
