For many years, I did what most of us do – I regularly bought dishwashing sponges. One of those colorful ones with a rough side that starts to smell, fall apart, or turn into an unusable sticky thing after a few days. I also tried various cloths, microfiber or disposable towels, but the result never completely satisfied me. And then came an unexpected discovery…

Tulle – a hidden treasure in every household
One day, a friend showed me what she used to wash dishes. Honestly? I laughed a little. She was holding… a piece of old curtain tulle in her hand! It seemed like some strange homemade invention to me. But then I thought – why not try it? I have tulle at home anyway – from old curtains that I will never hang up anyway.

And the result completely surprised me! Tulle:

It foams wonderfully even with a small amount of product,
Effortlessly removes dried dirt and grease,
Doesn’t smell even after a few days,
Dries quickly and doesn’t break like classic sponges,
And most importantly – it’s FREE.
How to make a “tulle sponge” in a minute:
Find an old piece of tulle – ideally a stronger mesh curtain.
Cut a rectangle about 15×20 cm.
Fold it several times (easy to make a square).
Weigh it in the middle with string, you can also lightly sew the edges – and you’re done!
If you want a stronger “sponge”, you can use two to three layers of tulle.
