This year I decided to grow cucumbers exclusively in a greenhouse. The changeable weather — sometimes rain, sometimes a sudden cooling — is not ideal for an outdoor bed. But even a greenhouse, where plants have more stable conditions, does not guarantee success. The real key to a rich harvest lies elsewhere — in consistent care and regular, thoughtful fertilization.
🍃 My proven method: 1 tablespoon per teapot
Cucumbers have an incredible appetite. They need to constantly supply their shallow roots (only 30-50 cm deep) with nutrients in order to grow, bloom and bear fruit. That’s why I do several waterings with added nutrients during the season – and here’s my favorite mixture:
🌿 What I need:
1 liter of herbal infusion (e.g. from nettle, dandelion or common weeds)
10 liters of water
1 tablespoon of wood ash
🧪 How I prepare green fertilizer:
I put chopped herbs (often weeds from around the flowerbed) in a barrel or large bucket. I pour water and let it ferment for 5-7 days in the sun. The result is a concentrated green infusion rich in nitrogen and trace elements.
💧 How I water:
For every 10 liters of water I add:
1 liter of herbal concentrate
1 tablespoon of ash
I apply this mixture directly to the roots every 5 days, about 2-3 liters per plant.
✨ The results speak for themselves:
The leaves are deep green and strong
The fruits are formed in large quantities, without empty flowers
The plants are more resistant to diseases
The harvest is juicy, sweet and abundantly distributed
This approach is 100% natural, does not disturb the soil balance and promotes healthy growth and taste. If you are looking for a simple but effective solution for a rich harvest of cucumbers — this “spoon in a teapot” will not disappoint you.
