These internet puzzles that look so simple, but that half the people in the comments argue about, are classics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Intentionally, in case I come across the kind of example you have in mind. It&#8217;s usually about the order of operations (multiplication and division before addition and subtraction).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s a little trick for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7 + 7 \u00d7 7 + 7 \u00d7 7 \u2013 7 = ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s how it&#8217;s done (without a calculator and with a cool head): Multiplication and division take precedence: First, we solve these two operations in the middle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">$7 \\div 7 = \\mathbf{1}$<br>$7 \\times 7 = \\mathbf{49}$ Now we put the results together: We write them back in the row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7 + 1 + 49 \u2013 7<br>Addition and subtraction from left to right:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7 + 1 = 8<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8 + 49 = 57<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">57 \u2013 7 = 50<br>The result is 50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where do most people make mistakes?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They often simply count from left to right as best they can (7 + 7 = 14, then 14 \u00f7 7 = 2, etc.), which is the fastest way to get an A in math.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Did you mean an example like this, or was there another trick with fruits or shoes whose value changes in each row?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Challenge accepted!
