In 1993, the caretaker, Stjepan Voki\u0107, found a female stork with a broken wing. He nursed her back to health, named her Malena (Little One), and built her a nest on the roof of his school. However, due to her injury, Malena was never able to fly again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every spring, a male stork, whom Stjepan called Klepetan, came to her nest. But when it was time to migrate to warmer climes in the fall (often as far as South Africa), Klepetan had to fly away to survive the winter. Malena had to stay behind, as she couldn’t fly long distances. Stjepan cared for her throughout the winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then the incredible happened: Klepetan returned every spring. This cycle repeated itself for an unbelievable 19 years. He flew over 13,000 kilometers each way, braving storms and exhaustion, just to return to Malena and raise a new generation of young with her. Together, they raised 66 offspring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This story has become a symbol of devotion that overcomes even the greatest obstacles. Many people see it as a profound life lesson about the power of love, loyalty, and the willingness to sacrifice oneself for others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
