This headline sounds like it came straight out of a TV commercial! But I have to “slow you down” a little – if your mop is black from a year’s worth of dirt and grease, a new one won’t do a thing in 5 minutes, let alone a home trick. Physics and chemistry take their time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, if you’re looking for the really effective recipe that’s circulating on the Internet (and that actually works if you give it at least an hour of soaking), here it is:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\ud83e\uddfc The “miracle” recipe (that really cleans)
Forget about 5-minute miracles, this is a proven classic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hot water: Fill a bucket with boiling water (as long as the material of the mop allows it).
Dishwasher tablet: This is the real hero. It contains powerful degreasers and enzymes that break down dirt in the fabric.
Bleaching agent: Add a 100ml of vinegar (for disinfection and limescale removal) or a tablespoon of sodium percarbonate (if the mop is white).
Lemon (optional): A few slices of lemon (which you already have cut from the bedroom!) will add a fresh scent.
Why doesn\u2019t \u201c5 minutes\u201d work?
The dirt is deep: The mop\u2019s textile fibers (especially cotton) literally \u201cdrink\u201d the dirt. A superficial rinse in 5 minutes will only remove the worst.
Disinfection: For hot water and detergents to kill bacteria and loosen grease, they need at least 30 minutes to work.

If you have a microfiber mop, simply throw it in the washing machine at 60\u00b0C with a little detergent (but no fabric softener, as it destroys the suction power). It’s the most effective way and it only takes you 30 seconds to do it \u2013 throw it in the drum and turn on the button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
