You can find the link in the comments.

Most people panic when they suddenly see an insect with countless long legs scurrying around the room. But in most cases, the “creepy insect” isn’t a pest, but a useful household companion.

If you find such a creature in your home, it’s usually one of these three:

The house centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata)
This is probably the creepiest insect and is becoming increasingly common in German homes (especially in the south and west). It has 15 pairs of extremely long legs and is incredibly fast.
What it means: You get a free pest control service. The house centipede is a predator and eats practically anything you don’t want in your home: silverfish, cockroaches, moths, and spiders.

Danger: Completely harmless to humans. It is extremely shy and bites only in extreme emergencies (somewhat reminiscent of a small wasp sting, but it is rare).

The silverfish hunter (a relative of the paperfish)
You often see elongated, silvery or grayish insects with long antennae.
What it means: If you see a lot of them, the humidity in your rooms may be too high (over 60%). Silverfish love humidity and mold spores.

The good news: They are actually useful, as they eat dust mites and mold.

The house spider (Tegenaria domestica)
The classic large, dark, hairy spider that loves to sit in the bathtub.
What it means: Your home has a healthy ecosystem. These spiders are a sign that the air quality is good and that they can find enough food (flies, mosquitoes).

Important: They usually can’t penetrate human skin with their mouthparts.

What should you do?

Instead of using insecticide spray, the best method is:

Glass and cardboard: Place a glass over the insect, carefully slide a piece of paper underneath, and release it outside.

Investigate the cause: If you find a large number of insects, check for cracks in the walls or dampness in the basement and bathroom.

Mosquito screens: The easiest way to keep these “bugs” out without killing them.

Have you ever seen an animal with an unusually large number of legs that almost looked like a small millipede? If you describe its appearance in more detail, I can tell you whether it’s a beneficial insect or a warning sign for your home!

Most people panic when they suddenly see an insect with countless long legs scurrying around the room.
