But what if we combined these two things into a single, deliciously fragrant, filling dish that requires no additional side dishes and is ready without spending a lot of time at the stove?

That’s exactly how ground beef baked with potatoes, cheese, and pickles works. Simple, homemade, and a little different from the norm. Great for a regular family dinner, but also for those times when you just want something tasty without complicated planning.

Why this combination works
A mix of two types of meat (for example, pork + beef or chicken + pork) gives the dish juiciness and a more pronounced flavor.

The potatoes absorb the excess juices, creating a wonderfully soft and fragrant layer.
Pickled or fermented cucumbers add a light acidity and freshness that perfectly balances the fattiness of the meat. The cheese softens and binds everything together.
Spices like paprika and coriander enhance the flavor and give a fresh twist to home cooking.
The result? A dish that has it all: meat, potatoes, vegetables, and a cheese sauce.

Recipe: Baked Ground Beef Cutlets with Potatoes, Cucumbers, and Cheese
Ingredients
600g ground beef (ideally a mix of 2 types)
1 onion
2 slices of bread (bread or toast)
100ml milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sweet paprika
1 teaspoon coriander
Freshly ground pepper or herbs to taste
4 potatoes
100g cheese (Eidam, Gouda, or a mix)
3 pickled gherkins
3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Method
1) Prepare the meat mixture
Cut the bread into cubes and pour the milk over it. Let it soak and add it to the ground beef.
Finely chop the onion and mix. Season with salt, pepper, coriander, pepper, and, if desired, chopped parsley. Mix the mixture well.

2) Vegetables and Cheese
Coarsely grate the peeled potatoes and squeeze out excess water.
Finely grate the cheese.
Separately grate the cucumbers and squeeze them lightly.

3) Form and Layer
Form medium-sized balls with the meat mixture, place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and flatten them slightly. This will create shallow “cutlets.”

Gradually layer each cutlet with:

grated potatoes
cucumbers
cheese
Finally, drizzle the surface lightly with mayonnaise to soften everything.

4) Bake
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40-50 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and the potatoes are soft.

Result
Fragrant, juicy, and gorgeously colored cutlets, containing everything you’d usually serve separately.
They pair well with a fresh vegetable salad, a cucumber salad, or simply chopped tomatoes.

👉 Follow our page, like it 👍, share this article, and help us spread awareness: it could save your life and the lives of your loved ones.

When it comes to “ground beef dinner,” most people picture the classic meatballs and potatoes or salad.
