Although she herself was mostly known for her love of hot dogs and vodka, this chicken wing recipe, also known as “Betty White’s Chicken Wings Pacifica”, has become very popular. The secret is the sticky, sweet-salty glaze and the long marinating.

Betty White’s Secret to the Perfect Chicken Wings
Betty White’s recipe is about extremely tasty, crumbly and sticky chicken wings, which are relatively easy to prepare, but require a little marinating time.

The secret is in the glaze and marinade:
Sweet-salty balance: The glaze is based on soy sauce and brown sugar, creating an irresistible sweet-salty combination that caramelizes as it bakes.
Butter for richness: Butter gives the glaze a creamy texture and rich flavor.
Mustard and garlic: Dry mustard and garlic powder (or fresh garlic) add depth and complexity to the glaze.
Long marinating: This is the key! The chicken wings need to rest in the glaze for at least 2 hours, or even overnight. The salt in the soy sauce helps to loosen the meat fibers, making the chicken extra tender and juicy, and absorbing a lot more flavor.
Betty White Chicken Wings Recipe
Ingredients:

1.5 kg chicken wings (drumettes and flats can be used, but the meatier wing tips are best)
120 ml (½ cup) butter, melted
240 ml (1 cup) soy sauce
200 g (1 cup) brown sugar
180 ml (3/4 cup) water (or chicken stock for a more intense flavor)
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard (mustard powder)
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2-3 cloves fresh crushed garlic)
Optional: 1-2 teaspoons honey (makes it stickier)
Optional: 1 teaspoon chili flakes (if you like a spicy flavor)
Preparation:

To make the glaze: Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, water (or stock), dry mustard, and garlic powder (and optional honey/chili flakes, if using). Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved and the glaze has thickened slightly, then remove from heat and let cool completely. It’s important to pour the glaze over the chicken while it’s still cold!
Marinade: Place the chicken wings in a large, shallow bowl or resealable bag. Pour the cooled glaze over them, making sure each wing is well coated. Cover (or seal the bag) and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, but ideally 4-24 hours. Turn the wings occasionally to marinate evenly.

Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a flat baking sheet with aluminum foil (this makes cleanup easier).
Arrange the marinated chicken wings in a single layer on the baking sheet. Pour a little of the sauce over them to keep them moist.
Bake the chicken wings in the preheated oven for 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, or until they are nicely golden brown and cooked through. Turn them over halfway through (about 40-45 minutes) to brown both sides and caramelize the glaze.
To serve: Remove the wings from the baking sheet, drain any excess grease on paper towels, and serve immediately.
This recipe is a sweet, salty, and gooey treat that is sure to be a crowd pleaser! Enjoy!

Betty White, the iconic actress and comedian, was not only brilliant on screen, but she also left behind a great chicken wing recipe!
