Overnight Deep Cleaning: Perform a thorough cleaning before going to bed.
Wash all dishes immediately after use. Don’t leave anything dirty in the sink.
Wipe all countertops, tables, and food preparation areas with a damp cloth and a natural disinfectant (such as diluted vinegar) to remove crumbs, spills, and grease residue.
Sweep and vacuum the kitchen and dining room floors to remove crumbs.
Clean up liquid spills immediately, especially water. Food Storage: Store all food in airtight containers (plastic or glass). Never leave food exposed.
Trash Cans: Use trash cans with tight-fitting lids and empty them every night before going to bed. If possible, take the trash outside.
Water: Cockroaches need water to survive.
Dry the sink, shower, and bathroom countertops before going to bed.
Check for leaks in faucets or pipes and repair them immediately.
Do not leave water in pet bowls overnight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Boric Acid (Be Careful!):
How it works: Boric acid is a natural substance that acts as a stomach poison and abrasive to cockroaches when they ingest it or walk on it.
Use: Mix equal parts sugar (to attract them) and boric acid. Sprinkle a thin layer in places where cockroaches hide (behind appliances, under cabinets, in crevices).
Safety: Use with extreme caution in homes with children or pets. It is toxic if ingested. Apply in inaccessible areas.
Baking Soda and Sugar:
How it works: Baking soda, when ingested by cockroaches (attracted by sugar), reacts with stomach acid, causing bloating and gas that kills them.
Use: Mix equal parts baking soda and powdered sugar. Sprinkle on problem areas. It’s safer than boric acid, but it’s still a good idea to exercise caution. Bottle Traps:
How it works: Cockroaches are attracted to the bottle by bait and become trapped.
Use: Cut off the top of a plastic bottle, invert the top (like a funnel), and fit it into the bottom. Place some water and a slice of bread or fruit in the bottom as bait.
Essential Oils (Repellent):
How it works: Certain essential oils (peppermint, eucalyptus, tea tree) are natural cockroach repellents.
Use: Mix 10-15 drops of your chosen essential oil in water and spray in areas where cockroaches appear. It won’t kill them, but it may discourage them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Cracks and Crevices: Use silicone, caulk, or drywall to seal all cracks and holes in walls, baseboards, around pipes, sinks, and under doors. Cockroaches can squeeze through incredibly small openings.
Roofs and Vents: Check and seal any gaps around loose roofs, exhaust fans, and other openings to the outside.

Clutter: Reduce clutter in closets, drawers, and pantries. The fewer hiding places, the better. Newspapers and Boxes: Get rid of stacks of newspapers, magazines, and empty cardboard boxes. These are ideal hiding places and breeding grounds for cockroaches.
